RARE TORSO

Rare Torso offers limited-edition T-shirts by contemporary artists. All artist proceeds from each shirt make possible the free programming at the Young Authors Greenhouse, a member of the International Alliance of Youth Writing Centers. The Young Authors Greenhouse was started by Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and serves students ages 6-18 in Louisville, Kentucky. Rare Torso is a project created by Jim and Dave Eggers, co-founder of 826 Valencia, the San Francisco writing center that he co-founded, and which served as inspiration for the Young Authors Greenhouse.

The shirts are hand-printed by Nifty Sign & Print, an artist-run business in Richmond, CA, on 100% cotton fabric with long-lasting and eco-friendly water-based ink.
